State, territory and federal governments are being accused of failing to limit the use of combustible cladding, despite repeated warnings as early as 2010.

The Financial Review has obtained documents showing the concerns of fire authorities in NSW and the ACT were discussed at meetings of building regulators and the Australian Building Code Board.

But, 100 per cent polyethylene core panels remained on sale with no caution at least until 2013.

Fire engineering expert Doctor Jonathan Barnett tells Alan Jones he believes warnings have gone ignored for even longer.

“This isn’t new, 2010 is 20 years after we’ve known about the problem.

“And it was ignored then so I’m not very happy about that.”
