Last year, the road toll hit a seven-year high of 393.

One suggestion to counter the rising toll on NSW roads is to fall in line with the rest of country and install more point-to-point speed cameras, where the average speed of a driver is measured over a longer distance.

NSW currently has 25 point-to-point speed camera zones.

Dr John Crozier, Chair of the National Trauma Committee at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, is passionate about having more of the cameras installed.

“It’s a fair system.

“We’ve also got the rigorous evidence of the tremendous benefit they do bring; the dramatic reduction of crashes on those segments on the roads.”
