Sydney snags ATP Cup tournament… after government splashes out on tennis centre roof
Sydney has secured the hosting rights for the inaugural 24-team ATP Cup finals in January 2020.
More than 100 players from 24 nations will compete in the tournament which is expected to inject $36.5 million into the local economy.
The new 2020 ATP Cup will be hosted in Sydney and Brisbane, with a third capital city to be announced soon.

But it comes after Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced a $50-million upgrade of the Ken Rosewall Arena at Sydney Olympic Park to include a canopy roof.
Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres tells Luke Grant they wouldn’t have been able to snag the hosting rights if they didn’t commit to including a roof.
“There’s no doubt that world tennis wanted to see a bigger tournament with a stronger focus on Sydney, but our infrastructure was letting us down.”
